How to make one

Replace the example text above with your own details in this format: WIFI:T:WPA;S:NetworkName;P:Password;; Then save the image. Most phone cameras recognize it and offer to join the network.

The fields

• T is the security type: WPA, WEP, or nopass for an open network.
• S is the network name and P is the password.
• If the name or password contains a semicolon, comma, colon or backslash, put a backslash before that character.
• For a hidden network, add H:true; before the final semicolon.

Anyone who can scan the code can join, so avoid posting it publicly. Change your password if it gets shared too widely.

Most current phone cameras can read Wi-Fi QR codes. Test with your own devices.

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The code is generated in your browser.
